Recipe Ingredients
- 1 16 oz. pack Athen's Phyllo Dough sheets
- 4 cups canola oil
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
Recipe Directions
- Thaw the Athen’s phyllo dough sheets according to the package directions. Once thawed, use a pizza cutter or sharp knife to carefully cut the dough into bite-sized squares.
- Line a baking sheet with paper towels and set aside.
- In a small bowl, stir together the sugar and cinnamon until combined.
- Add the frying oil to a deep 6-8 qt. pot, allowing the oil to heat to a temperature of 325-375 degrees. Once the oil reaches temperature, use a large spoon to add the dough pieces to the oil in small batches. (No more than 1 1/2 cups at a time)
- Allow the dough to fry in the oil, stirring frequently, until slightly golden and crispy, then use a slotted spoon to remove the pieces and place directly onto the paper towel-lined baking sheet. Repeat until all slices of dough are fried.
- Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar all over the top of the fried dough pieces and gently toss to ensure they are evenly coated. Enjoy!
