Recipe Ingredients
- ¾ pound penne pasta
- 6 slices thick-cut bacon, diced small
- ½ yellow onion, diced small
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 cup half & half
- 1/3 cup shredded parmesan, plus extra for serving
- 1 cup peas, frozen
Recipe Directions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and add the pasta cook according to package directions. Add the peas to the cooking pasta when there’s one minute left of cooking.
- Put bacon in a large skillet or pan over medium heat, and cook until about halfway done, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the onion and continue cooking until the bacon is done and the onion has softened and is beginning to color.
- Put in the butter & red pepper flakes – stir until the butter has melted.
- Add the half and half and let simmer for a couple minutes to thicken, then stir in the parmesan. Remember to add the peas if you haven’t.
- Drain the pasta and peas, and add to the pan, mixing well to coat everything – add a little pasta water if you want it thinner.
- Plate and serve with extra parmesan on top
