A new twist on an old favorite - a grilled ham and cheese sandwich with waffles and a cinnamon applesauce syrup. Great for breakfast or lunch!
- 4 oz. sliced cooked ham
- 4 (1-oz.) slices American cheese
- 8 Pillsbury® Hungry Jack® Frozen Waffles
- 1/4 cup margarine or butter, softened
- 1 cup chunky applesauce
- 1/4 cup Hungry Jack® Microwave Ready Regular Syrup
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
Heat large skillet over medium high heat or griddle to 400F. Place 1/4 of the ham and 1 slice cheese on each of 4 waffles. Top each with remaining waffle. Spread margarine on top and bottom of each sandwich. Place in hot skillet; cook 10 to 12 minutes or until cheese is melted and waffles are crisp, turning once.
Meanwhile, in small saucepan, combine all topping ingredients; mix well. Cook over medium heat for 5 to 6 minutes or until warm, stirring occasionally. Serve grilled sandwiches with warm topping.
